Intuitive Investor Fact Sheet

March 27, 2017

Last November, Wells Fargo Advisors (WFA) announced it was developing a digital investment offering to deliver financial advice to the next generation of investors — many of whom, as their lives and finances grow in complexity, are expected to want to transition to WFA’s full-service model. Newly named Intuitive InvestorSM, this digital investment offering is designed to help customers meet their important investment goals, particularly for those who do not currently have an investment relationship with WFA.

Intuitive Investor supports Wealth and Investment Management’s overall strategy to serve the evolving needs of clients and harness technology to address a long-time challenge faced by the industry: delivering high-quality advice primarily designed for next-generation investors.

Intuitive Investor is an advice solution designed for the emerging, younger generation client willing to engage primarily online, who may also value having access to a financial advisor. Proprietary research conducted with Gen Y participants in early 2016 indicated ~50%1 of these clients were extremely likely to consider this type of offering.

Intuitive Investor can help customers meet their financial goals by integrating digital investing technology with a human touch at a low cost. It also offers convenient integration with bank accounts. The minimum investment threshold is $10,000 at a cost of a 50 bps advisory fee to the customer, which covers all account services and is inclusive of financial advisor phone support which can be used as needed.

In addition, the asset allocation models and the ETFs (a blend of passive broad-based index and smart beta strategies) in Intuitive Investor are designed and selected by the Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII), leveraging world-class research and portfolio management expertise. The day-to-day management of the portfolios will be done by SigFig, an independent, San-Francisco-based wealth management technology company, whose algorithm rebalances the portfolios and harvests tax losses when appropriate.

Intuitive Investor provides:

  • Modern digital experience across all devices (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Online investment profiling and advice
  • Digital onboarding
  • Can be integrated with online banking
  • Portfolio management including auto rebalancing & tax loss harvesting
  • Ongoing, personalized communications
  • Access to human financial advice as needed
  • Wells Fargo Investment Institute expertise with optimized algorithm from SigFig

The Team Member Pilot

Beginning in early Q2 2017, WFA will begin a pilot to its team members to receive feedback on the user experience prior to launching a limited customer pilot later this summer.

  • Pilot access will be by invitation.
  • Team members can participate in the Pilot without having to invest – experiencing the onboarding process and providing valuable input.
